Aoife's top award hope

OLYMPIC bobsleigh athlete Aoife Hoey is one of a group of young Irish people who are in the running for the prestigious Outstanding Young Persons of the Year awards.

Past recipients have included Elvis Presley, John F. Kennedy and David Hall, founder of Make A Wish foundation.

Nominees from Ireland this year include students who have established schools in Nepal, organised house building projects in Zambia and developed a universal braking system for wheelchair users. Three will go forward to represent Ireland at the international awards.
