DISCOUNT retailer Aldi has pushed up its market share in Ireland. The latest figures from Kantar Worldpanel show that Aldi's share of the €14bn Irish grocery market grew at the fastest pace of any retailer during the latest survey.
The German discount store had a 4.5pc share of the market for the 12 weeks ended February 19 -- an increase of a quarter from the previous period.
However its rival, Lidl, continues to attract more business, holding a 5.6pc share in the period, although this is virtually unchanged from a year earlier.
Tesco, however, remains the country's biggest retailer, with a market share of just over 28pc.
