Airport on alert over Aer Arann problem

EMERGENCY services at Dublin Airport were mobilised in an alert over an Aer Arann flight.

Fire engines and ambulances stood by as the plane made its approach to the runway at around 3.30pm yesterday -- after it developed a cockpit problem.

The French-built ATR-72, with around 40 passengers on board, had just taken off yesterday afternoon when an indicator light went on the cockpit, according to an airline spokeswoman.

"The indicator light indicated a problem in the cockpit and the aircraft returned to Dublin as a precaution," she said

"The emergency services were on standby but the aircraft landed normally. The passengers were never in danger," she added.
