AIB ups mortgage rate

HOMEOWNERS are being slapped with another rise in mortgages as AIB pushed up its fixed-rate.

AIB will increase its one-year fixed rate for owner-occupiers to 4.15pc from 3.59pc, while its five-year rate will increase to 5.35pc from 4.39pc. This would push payments on a €250,000 30-year mortgage to a new monthly repayment of €1,266 from €1,122.

AIB blamed the rising costs of fixed-rate mortgage financing for the hikes.
