Operation Transformation contestant Alan Mullen (inset right) may be attracting many followers for his determination to lose weight on the show, but he is still coming to grips with boiling an egg.

On last night's show the Westmeath native battled with the simple cooking task, but that didn't stop him losing a total of 6lbs this week - hitting his target.

The 21-year-old is determined to get control of his fitness after suffering jibes about his weight.

Fellow contestant Eilish Kavanagh also shed the required weight with interest, smashing the 2lbs she was to lose.

The 47-year-old Wexford native who is hoping to lose weight in time for her daughter's wedding day, dropped a total of 4.5lbs this week, more than double the target set for her.

However, the show's final contestant last night, Veronica Horgan (24) from Co Cork, fell below the expected target.

Despite still losing weight, Veronica was short of the 4lbs she aimed to lose, dropping a mere 1.5lbs instead.

She was visibly upset with the low figure read out by presenter Kathryn Thomas, telling the host: "I'm so disappointed."

Trainer Karl Henry echoed Veronica's sentiment in his comments, saying they had set the group "easy targets".

"I definitely pushed myself harder than the week before," gutted Veronica said.

However, she admitted that she probably could have pushed herself to another level.

"I did everything, I probably should have worked harder," she said.

"Extremely disappointed but we're all going to pick ourselves up and make sure we reach for the sky next week," she added.

Next week will see Dubliner Louise Ormsby (34) attempt to reach her target, as she is determined to lose weight to have a baby.
