Aer Lingus sales fall

THE number of passengers flying with Aer Lingus fell by 0.5pc in December, bringing its total passenger numbers in 2013 to 9.63 million people, falling just short of analyst estimates.

Capacity was reduced by 1.2pc, meaning the carrier had a load factor (the percentage of seats filled) of 73.9pc.

Its long-haul business actually returned to growth during the period, with passenger number up by just shy of 12pc on a capacity increase of 5pc.
