Addict stole rashers to 'finance his crack habit'

A CRACK cocaine user has been jailed for four months for stealing hundreds of euro worth of rashers and other meat products.

Brian Mulhall (44) stole the meat to sell on and finance his habit.

Mulhall, of Abbotstown Avenue, Finglas, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to four theft charges.

The court heard he went to Aldi in St Margaret's Road, Finglas, last February 22 and stole €150 worth of rashers.

On March 5 he was stopped by security staff at Tesco, Cabra, after stealing €62 worth of meat products.

He stole more than €100 worth of groceries at Lidl, Glasnevin, on two other dates.

"He demonstrates consistent consumer preference," Judge Michael Coghlan remarked.
