Accused of stealing council railings

A DUBLIN man has appeared in court accused of stealing metal railings from a council-owned wall.

David McDonagh (38) allegedly used an angle grinder to remove the railings, valued at €1,400.

Judge David McHugh ordered the disclosure of any statements and adjourned the matter to September.

The accused, of St Margaret's Park in Ballymun, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with theft and criminal damage.

Sergeant Maria Callaghan said it is alleged Mr McDonagh used an angle grinder to remove the metal railings from a wall at Damastown Avenue at Mulhuddart on July 23 last.

It is alleged the railings are the property of Fingal County Council.
