€7m sales boost for concert hall

THE National Concert Hall recorded a 56pc rise in profits and revenues to the tune of €2.17m.

The company said that over €7.13m in ticket sales was generated, a jump from €4.6m, with attendances reaching 318,000.

It all helped the State-controlled company to record a modest net profit of €183,663 for the year, bringing its working capital up to a healthy €2.17m.

NCH chairman David Byrne said that the financial results even exceeded board expectations.

He said they were disappointed that redevelopment plans were shelved due to the difficult financial environment but added that a "more modest" refurbishment was a possibility.

The NCH said that a record 834 events were promoted during 2010, along with a host of outreach events all over Ireland.
