79 VIEWERS COMPLAIN OVER PRIME TIME GLITCH

RTE has received 79 complaints over the technical error that occurred during an interview with the Russian Ambassador on Prime Time.

Montrose bosses apologised for the embarrassing glitch and said that it was caused by "equipment failure".

On Monday evening's broadcast on RTE One, the words "Irish Ukrainians, not Russians" were replayed for 13 minutes during an interview with Maxim Peshkov about Ukraine.

BAFFLED

Viewers were left baffled as the phrase was repeated hundreds of times until it was finally restored during a shampoo commercial.

Station chiefs said the blunder was due to a failure in equipment which was installed as part of the RTE One HD platform.
