50pc took no sick day

ALMOST 50pc of Irish workers didn't take a sick day last year as the workforce appears to be "toughing it out". The figure is slightly lower than the British figure of 49pc and higher than the global average of 42pc.

And Irish respondents to the job market sentiment survey reported an improvement in their optimism -- a total of 37pc reported they were optimistic for the year ahead, compared with just 22pc feeling the same in quarter three 2010.
