ALMOST half of Irish households plan some kind of home improvement within the year, according to a new survey.

The study found that 69pc admitted that women headed up the key decisions in home decoration but 72pc said it was the man who handled the majority of DIY.

The results of a new B&Q Ideal Home 'Irish Household Survey' by Ipsos MRBI found that 91pc of people considered themselves to be house-proud.
