¤3.4m for tourism

THE Government has pledged funding of €3.4m for a number of high-profile tourism and sporting events in Ireland this year.

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Leo Varadkar said that each event has the potential to attract thousands of international visitors to Ireland and support jobs in the hospitality sector.

The events include the Volvo Ocean Race leg in Galway, the Tall Ships event in Dublin and the Irish Open in Portrush and the Ladies Open in Meath.
