€307m profit for Microsoft Ireland

Microsoft Ireland reported a massive surge in profits of €307m after tax last year.

The multinational has seen its profits increase from €413m in 2008 to €720m in 2009.

The company is the principle marketing, sales and distribution centre for Microsoft's European, Middle East and African markets while Microsoft has separate companies for operations and research in Ireland.

It sent half a billion euro back to its US parent company after paying no dividend at all the previous year, accounts just filed with the Companies Office show.
