26 die in Afghan car-bomb attack

At least 26 people were killed in a suicide car bomb blast near a military base in eastern Afghanistan which once hosted CIA employees, local officials said.

It is the latest in a series of insurgent attacks since foreign forces ended their combat mission there.

The explosion last night hit a checkpoint manned by members of the Khost Provincial Force, an Afghan unit which guards Camp Chapman, said Youqib Khan, the deputy police chief in Khost province.
