200 jobs to go at RBS

MORE THAN 200 employees will lose their jobs at Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in Dublin and Belfast.

The owners of Ulster Bank, RBS, said that the redundancies were part of planned job cuts that it warned of last April, following the announcement of a global review.

Some 196 workers in Dublin are being laid off with a further 25 in Belfast being made redundant. The cuts are in addition to the planned 750 lay-offs Ulster Bank announced last January, with the closure of First Active branches and warnings in August of another 250 job cuts.
