18 car jobs go as dealer folds

Eighteen jobs are to be lost in Dublin with the closure of car dealership Rathdown Motors.

The business, based in Terenure, will close before Christmas with the loss of 16 full-time and two part-time jobs.

The company, which is a main Hyundai dealer, said it would provide service support for warranty customers for a period of six months after the closure.

The dealership, established by Mark Turley in 1986, has been in operation for more than 25 years.

Three killed in bridge collapse

A highway bridge being built in Slovakia has collapsed, killing at least three workers.

Two workers died immediately and another died after being taken to hospital. Fifteen other workers were injured.

The collapse happened yesterday afternoon near the town of Kurimany.

Police called to what looked like a woman shot dead in her car found a drunk and unconscious Halloween reveller in a fake blood-covered zombie costume.

Officers in Birmingham, Alabama, were called out after a passer-by saw the woman slumped over her steering wheel at a traffic light.

They woke her up and she was taken to the city jail.
