A man who was found in possession of more than €11,000 worth of cocaine has had his sentencing adjourned until November at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Donnacha Flynn (27) led gardai to the drugs he stored in a chest of drawers in his bedroom on August 6, 2008.
Father-of-one of Flynn pleaded guilty to possession of six bags of cocaine valued at €11,600 at his family home at Lindisfarne Avenue, Bawnogue, Clondalkin.
Garda Padraig Shanny told Mr Derek Cooney, prosecuting, that Flynn said he had intended "to get rid" of the cocaine and each bag would fetch about €1,000.
Robber caught in fake breasts
A man robbed a bank wearing a blonde wig, fake breasts and clown pants, according to US police.
Swissvale, Pennsylvania police said Dennis Hawkins (48) was sitting in a parked car covered in red dye from an exploding packet in a bag of money when he was arrested.
Police chief Greg Geppert said Hawkins robbed the bank using a stolen toy gun.
Geppert said Hawkins then entered a woman's car. She got out, took her keys and alerted police. Hawkins was found sitting in the car.
Volcanic power deal for island
St Lucia is gearing up to tap geothermal power trapped beneath boiling sulphur springs, a rare attempt at developing alternative energy sources in the Caribbean.
Stephen Baker is chief of Qualibou Energy, which has signed a 30-year agreement to extract geothermal power in a wild, mountainous area.
He said extracting the power would not damage the ecological mix of the volcanic island of 160,000 people.
Carell hands in Office notice
Steve Carell, star of the US version of The Office, will leave the programme after the current season.
US network NBC's Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said the actor's seven-year run as Dunder Mifflin boss Michael Scott will end when his contract expires in 2011 although the show will go on.
"We've been lucky to have had him as long as we've had," she said.
