Navy detains fishing vessel

A fishing vessel registered in the North has been detained by the Irish navy.

The Lynn Marie trawler was seized in the Irish Sea about seven miles from Bray Head for alleged breach of fishing regulations.

It is understood the crew are being quizzed over alleged log book offences relating to documenting its catch.

A Defence Forces spokesman said that this was the second detention by the Naval Service so far this year.

Presidential bid is real -- Trump

Billionaire developer Donald Trump denies he is using talk about running for the US president to generate publicity for his television show.

Mr Trump, a Republican, said he plans to decide by June whether to join the 2012 race.

In an interview, Trump said the "biggest negative" is that most people do not think he is serious about making a run for the job.

But he said he doesn't need publicity for his television show, The Celebrity Apprentice.

Protest over Tyson pigeons

People for the Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) demonstrated outside Mike Tyson's home to protest against the former boxing champion's role in pigeon racing.

It was reported that the 20 protesters carried signs reading, 'Featherweights: No match for a Heavyweight', and 'Mike doesn't give pigeons a fighting chance'.

Tyson has been a pigeon racing breeder and fan since childhood in Brooklyn, New York.

Alice In Chains ex-bassist dies

Former Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr has been found dead by police in a home in Salt Lake City.

Police said details about the cause or circumstances of the 44-year-old's death were not immediately available.

It was not immediately clear who owned the home or phoned police.

Starr was the original bassist for Alice In Chains, a Seattle-based band that made its mark on the grunge scene of the early 1990s. He left the group in 1993.
