Molly (6) is the perfect Dub to lead ladies out for Croker final

By Fiona Dillon

If the Dubs ladies need to dig deep for bravery and inspiration this weekend, then they need look no further than their six-year-old mascot Molly McNally.

Molly who is battling cancer will be leading the football team out for their epic clash against Cork in the All-Ireland final on Sunday.

Her dad Gerry said Molly was thrilled when the call came through from the team spokesperson Patricia Monaghan, inviting her to the final at Croke Park.

Molly, who is from Balbriggan, is battling against a rare neuroblastoma that affects only one in five million children.

"She is very excited about it because she loves going to Croke Park. I have been going there myself since I was 12," said Gerry.

Molly will be going to the ladies training sessions on Friday night so she can say hello to them in advance of the big game.

Gerry told the Herald that Molly began another cycle of chemotherapy last week which finished on Friday.

Molly has another three cycles of chemotherapy to do before Christmas.

"Then our plan is to go to London for radiotherapy. Molly will undergo the intensive treatment at the Royal Marsden in London," he said. "She copes with it very well. She just keeps going, keeps smiling, keeps getting on with it," Gerry said.

Winning

Molly is now hoping the ladies will succeed in winning the All-Ireland for the Dubs.
