Model Aoife's car lands her in court

Former Miss Ireland Aoife Walsh has been fined €150 for failing to have an NCT cert when she was stopped by a garda.

The Clonmel native, who wore the Miss Ireland crown last year, has become the second beauty queen to be fined for motoring offences after Gemma Reilly (inset), who was crowned Miss Limerick in 2010, was fined €500 last week after pleading guilty to speeding.

Aoife (25) was stopped by gardai at Oola, Co Limerick, on April 17 this year and an inspection showed she was not displaying a current NCT disc.

She was fined €150 for the offence in Limerick District Court and given four weeks to pay it.

Aoife, who has three third-level degrees - arts from UCC, a masters in business management from University of Limerick and a postgraduate degree from Trinity College Dublin - had no comment to make about the incident when contacted by the Herald.

The stunning redhead had put her teaching ambitions on hold to compete for the Miss Ireland competition.

Last week Gemma Reilly made the headlines when she pleaded guilty to speeding at 187kph in a 120kph zone on the Ennis to Gort motorway on March 3.
