Miriam's joy as twin daughters follow in her footsteps to UCD
LIKE mother, like daughters --
RTE broadcaster Miriam O'Callaghan has revealed her delight that her twin girls are to attend UCD.
Georgia and Jessica received their Leaving Cert results yesterday, along with 57,000 other students.
And mum-of-eight Miriam told the Herald that she was "thrilled" that both are now set to begin degree courses at UCD next month.
Miriam (50) is herself a former student at the south Dublin based University, where she studied law.
"I'm delighted that they both did so well and are both heading into UCD," the glamorous Prime Time presenter said.
"I went there, too, and I know they will love it. They worked very hard so I am thrilled."
Miriam was with her two talented daughters (18) at their school, St Alexandra's College as they collected their results.
Afterwards, the popular broadcaster joined the rest of the family to toast the girls' success at a celebratory lunch at Tribeca restaurant in Ranelagh.
Their father, Miriam's first husband Tom McGurk, was also on hand to wish his offspring well at the family meal.
Miriam, who had taken the day off to spend with her close-knit clan, later joined some of her kids for a trip to the cinema to see popular comedy Bridesmaids.
Jessica and Georgia are both understood to have put Arts at UCD as their number one choice and should be accepted without any issue when the CAO results are published next week.
Both girls are keen basketball players and co-captained their Alexandra College team to success earlier this year when their school won a prestigious tournament.
Miriam has previously revealed how she herself was a swot while in school and said she was keen not to put too much pressure on her own children when it came to their studies.
