Minors edge battle Royal

Rebels reward for brave Jackies after their epic win over MeathALREADY, they are calling it a Minor miracle. Dublin, seven points down, coming back off the floor to be crowned Leinster champions.

Saturday's game even outshone the Newbridge cutlery. Those at the home of Sarsfields were the lucky ones.

Dublin and Meath have been enjoying Battle Royals since U14 level. This latest instalment stretched to extra-time. The Dubs eventually made it by two points, 3-11 to 2-12.

Such resolve is not surprising. In 2010, they beat Kerry to win the All-Ireland U16 title. Saturday's sensational show brought deep fulfilment to the management unit -- Fintan O'Curry, Ken Murphy, John Caffrey, Gerry Barrett, Shirley McDonagh and Judy Murphy.

The scores of Maria Kenny proved vital. Sarah McCaffrey was also majestic on the weekend that her brother, Jack, helped Dublin to become All-Ireland U21 football champs.

Their Da, Noel, was some footballer so this sporting duo don't have to travel far for top advice.

But it was the overall effort that chiselled such a memorable victory.

The Dublin girls were still in a sense of disbelief at the end.

They now meet Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final. Last August, Cork beat the Blues in a fabulous All-Ireland final in Birr. Here's looking forward to another one.
