Mick Kinane: Legatissimo set to deliver
Legatissimo
WE have had a real feast of racing over the last week or so between Galway and Goodwood but while Gleneagles omission from the Sussex Stakes was a real disappointment we are set for quite a fantastic renewal of the Nassau Stakes tomorrow.
There's a lot of good fillies queuing up to take their chance in this prestigious Group One which takes a lot of winning and I think the form of the Sea The Stars in the Pretty Polly Stakes from the Curragh could hold the key.
SHADED
On that occasion it was Aidan O'Brien's Diamondsandrubies who just shaded it but I think that form could be reversed by David Wachman's 1,000 Guineas winner Legatissimo.
Goodwood is a tricky little place and you need to have Lady Luck on your side around there and there's so little between those two, Star Of Seville and you can't rule out the improving Wedding Wow so it could come down to whoever gets the rub of the green.
I just think Goodwood is a place that is likely to suit Legatissimo as the distance is her ideal trip and the ground should be ideal and with Star Of Seville taking them along at a good honest pace the race should pan out to really suit her.
MIX
I do think Wedding Wow can get into the mix though she stepped up to the mark in the Kilboy and now the question is whether she can go to the next level or not. It'll be a strange day as Richard Hughes hangs up his boots. He has been a fantastic rider and a credit to his profession and his family and I think we all would love to see him sign off with a winner at Goodwood tomorrow.
His final ride is on a horse called Fox Trotter in the Qatar Stakes for Brian Meehan and it would be a nice fairytale ending if he could win on him.
