Derrane: I'm tempted to post saucy thoughts to stir up trouble too

RTE'S Four Live presenter Maura Derrane has spoken out in defence of her friend and colleague Sile Seoige following her X-rated Twitter blunder last week.

The bubbly broadcaster believes the controversy surrounding Sile's 'I think I just came' post at Kylie's concert on Wednesday night was over the top.

Outspoken Maura told the Herald how the subsequent media storm was unnecessary and joked that she is tempted to post a saucy comment on the internet so as to stir up some trouble.

"It's obvious she did it in the heat of the moment," Maura said. "I genuinely do think it was blown out of proportion.

"I really do believe that she didn't expect there to be such a reaction, I was surprised myself.

"I saw it all over the place and all over Twitter and all the rest. You know what, what do you do? It was just one of those things and will blow over," she added.

Maura also revealed how she thought her former TV3 colleague Lorraine Keane did a great job when she stepped in for Claire Byrne to co-host The Daily Show alongside Daithi O Se the week before last.

The chatty brunette is waiting to hear Montrose bosses' plans for the afternoon schedule next year, but is hoping her solo show will be back.

The Irish-speaking TV presenter admits she is flattered that the team on RTE comedy Republic Of Telly have taken such an interest in her show.

"I'm actually going to start sending them in invoices," she laughed. "I think I'm on Republic Of Telly more often than I'm on my own show these days.

"I seem to do everything that they want. There were a few clips from this week that I'm sure they'll use as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with next," she added.

The popular broadcaster was speaking at Friday night's exclusive Peter Mark VIP Style Awards, where she wowed in a fitted red Roberto Cavalli number.

Maura explained how she was embracing the latest trend to hit the social circuit by recycling the stunning gown from her wardrobe.

"There's no recession in my house," she joked. "I've had it a couple of years."
