Man killed in UK 'was from Wicklow'
POLICE in the UK have made a fresh plea to the family of an Irish man killed last month to contact them.
Barry Roger Spencer Southgate (64) died after being knocked down by a car in West London on April 11. His body has remained in the UK for the last seven weeks.
The elderly man, who is believed to previously gone by the surname O'Reilly, was crossing the road when he collided with a blue Nissan Almera.
He was rushed to hospital but died nine days later.
The man, who police believe was originally from Co Wicklow, was walking with the aid of crutches when he was struck at approximately 11.50pm.
A police spokesman told the Herald that they hope they will find the next of kin: "We have traced the deceased back to Co Wicklow. We are keen for his family to contact us. Some of his extended family may not be aware that he died."
