Man had knuckle duster in street row
By Andrew Phelan
A MAN caught throwing away a knuckle duster after a street row was given it by a friend, a court heard.
Mark Brannigan (34) had the case against him adjourned at Dublin District Court.
Brannigan, with an address at New Street South, Dublin 8, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon at Inchicore Terrace last August 5.
The court heard he had been in a dispute with another man who he knew and the knuckle duster was given to him by a friend.
Gardai saw him discard it, and when questioned he availed of his "right to silence" and told them it was not his.
He had no previous convictions. Judge William Hamill said he would be lenient if the defendant "did some voluntary work".
