Man charged with fish theft

A 40-YEAR-OLD man, who was arrested for stealing thousands of euro worth of seafood and marine equipment following a boat chase on the Liffey, has been further remanded in custody with consent to bail.

Father-of-one Mark Davis, from Knockmore Avenue, Tallaght, was charged last week with stealing €2,000 of crabs and lobsters and two outboard engines worth €6,000 from Bullock Harbour, Dalkey.

Mr Davis, who made no reply when charged, appeared before Judge Victor Blake at Cloverhill District Court. He was remanded in custody and will face his next hearing on November 4 at Dun Laoghaire District Court.

The accused, who is on disability benefits, has denied taking the engines and directions from the DPP need to be obtained in relation to his trial venue.

Grenade attack outside club

One person has died and 13 others were injured after a hand grenade blew up outside a nightclub in a popular tourist area in the Malaysia capital.

The pre-dawn explosion in the Bukit Bintang area of Kuala Lumpur is believed to have been due to a gang fight and was "not a terrorism act", a senior police official said.

He added that officers found a second grenade under a car after it failed to explode.

Worker killed by swarming bees

A landscaper has died and another is critically ill after the men were attacked by thousands of swarming bees in southern Arizona.

Douglas Fire Department said the incident happened at about 10.30am local time as the pair were working on a home.

A hive was found inside the home's loft and a beekeeper later destroyed it.

Ghostbusters gets revamp

If there is something strange in the neighbourhood, who are you going to call? "Hilarious women," quipped filmmaker Paul Feig.

Bridesmaids filmmaker Feig has said he is working on a new Ghostbusters film, with an all-female starring cast.

There were no details on casting or a release date.
