Man (24) is accused of assault on officer at city garda station

A YOUNG man has pleaded not guilty to a serious assault on a garda at a Dublin station.
Gerard Eglington (24) appeared in Dublin District Court charged with assaulting the officer in an incident in 2008.
The accused, of Markievicz House in the south inner city, is charged with assault causing harm to Garda Robert Barber. The offence, under Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, is alleged to have happened at Kevin Street Garda Station on October 22, 2008.
The case was before Judge Catherine Staines to confirm a hearing date. She adjourned the case to a date next month. The court was told the hearing would take a full day.
