Lucky for some

THE NEW series kicks off with five players joining hosts Kathryn Thomas and Marty Whelan for a shot at winning some fantastic cash prizes. The top prize is an incredible €500,000 and players can walk away with more than that, depending on how much they bank during the course of the show. The 21st season of Winning Streak will feature some exciting new twists, including a new game and a tougher fight-out for the chance to spin the wheel.

SING OUT LOUD

LAST week's stormer of an audition by Dubliner Mary Byrne has perked up Irish interest in this year's competition. The latest series looks set to be another ratings winner. It's building up nicely in the controversy stakes with allegations of some contestants being treated unfairly, not to mention the suggestion that 'vocal enhancement' techniques have been used.

BLOOD AND GORE

Casualty BBC1, 8.45pm

In this feature-length special, newly promoted Lenny (Steven Miller, below) describes himself as "unshockable". But he is as ashen-faced as everybody else when confronted with the injuries caused by a shootout at a local college. The team is fully tested when the full extent of the carnage is revealed. New nurse Mads can barely believe what has happened. Will she hold her nerve?

IT'S A LAUGH

Each week, a comedian will take us through a year of their life with the objective of getting some laughs from stories of the time. First up is Rufus Hound who records the weird and the wacky from the year 2000. The show combines stand-up comedy, studio guests and archive footage.
