Lords of Lucan to bring a halt to Anne's run

EVENING HERALD DUBLIN SFC THIRD ROUND

Lucan Sarsfields v St Anne's

(O'Toole Park, Today, 5.30)

ANNE'S are a young team that have gathered a large chunk of experience at this stage.

They have the distinction of the Fulham father-and-son duo, Darren and Scott of the Dublin minors.

Scott bounced back from the All-Ireland MFC final disappointment by scoring 2-6 for Anne's in minor action.

One of Bohernabreena's favourite sons, the 'Nipper' McNally was a Dublin minor selector -- he is now at the helm of Anne's senior footballers.

Former Dublin senior hurler Ciarán Brady and John Nolan will toil in the orchard. And there's profit in the feet of Martin O'Driscoll, Trevor Connolly, Craig McKeown and Daniel Watson.

Lucan's Paul Casey played a significant role in the return of Sam. His attitude and determination helped set the template on the training field for Giller's men.

Lucan always can rely on Stephen O'Shaughnessy, Kevin Moran, the O'Neills, Gallaghers, Caseys, David Quinn and Tommy Brennan, while Darragh Stapleton's development with the Sars' will be watched with much interest.

LAST YEAR -- Lucan: Quarter-final. St Anne's: Third round.

LAST TIME CHAMPIONS -- Lucan: Never. St Anne's: Never.

SFC 2011 -- Lucan: Lost to St Peregrine's. Beat St Jude's. St Anne's: Beat St Jude's. Lost to St Peregrine's.

WINNERS TO MEET: Templeogue Synge Street.

VERDICT: Lucan Sarsfields

Davis firepower to swing duel

EVENING HERALD DUBLIN SFC THIRD ROUND

St Patrick's (P) v Thomas Davis

(O'Toole Park, Today, 3.45)

THOMAS DAVIS are traditionalists. Good football is part of the diet on the Kiltipper Road.

They play it quick and simple. And when they are on song, it's not easy being in the same room.

Pat's will seek to pocket every crumb. Damien Farren, Paul Faughnan, David Mooney, Dublin senior hurler and All-Star nominee Liam Rushe and the Kellys are Palmerstown princes.

James O'Connor is so often the heartbeat of the Tallaght side. Shane McGrath, Paul Hudson and Ciarán Farrelly are never short with the donations.

Davis like to play it from the back. There's always merit in the deeds of the Kirbys, Peter Boland and Eoghan Behan.

LAST YEAR -- St Patrick's (P): Qualifiers. Thomas Davis: Third round.

LAST TIME CHAMPIONS -- St Patrick's: Never. Thomas Davis: 1991.

SFC 2011 -- St Patrick's (P): Lost to UCD. Thomas Davis: Beat Ballyboden St Enda's. Lost to Kilmacud.

WINNERS TO MEET: Naomh Maur.

VERDICT: Thomas Davis
