Lily fans asked to 'say a prayer'

Lily Allen asked her fans to "say a little prayer" following the complications which led to her second miscarriage.

The 25-year-old posted the message to her two million followers on social networking website Twitter.

Yesterday, a spokesman for the singer, who was around six months pregnant with boyfriend Sam Cooper's baby, revealed she had lost her child.

Her spokesman said: "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby.

"The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made."

Lily had written on Twitter: "say a little prayer x".

Friends of the star, who previously had a miscarriage when she was dating Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons in 2008, have been sending messages of support. US singer Justin Bieber wrote: "Just heard the news. My prayers go out to Lily Allen and her family."

Emma Bunton wrote: "Thinking of Lily Allen and her partner at this very sad time. Sending them lots of love."

Denise Van Outen tweeted "Such sad news about Lily Allen and Sam. My heart goes out to them", while X Factor host Dermot O'Leary wrote: "Sending big love to poor Lily."

Allen, daughter of comedian and actor Keith Allen, started dating 32-year-old Cooper, a builder, last year. She announced she was pregnant during the summer after being given the all-clear at her three-month scan.
