Going on the dry for a month can be a daunting prospect but some of Ireland's best-known celebs have taken it all in their stride.

Kelly Donegan, Eoghan McDermott, Caroline Morahan, Bernard Brogan and a host of other well-known faces took on the healthy challenge in association with the Irish Heart Foundation and some have found it easier than others.

"It's really easy being on the dry, I don't drink very often anyway so it's not that hard for me," Kelly Donegan told the Herald.

"I have six weight-lifting competitions coming up in the next few months and so I won't have a drink until July.

"I'm not a big drinker anyway but it's great to raise awareness for a good cause," she added.

Actress Caroline Morahan (37) has spent the first month of 2015 on stage at the Abbey Theatre starring in She Stoops to Conquer and admits she's looking forward to the wrap party this weekend.

BOOZE

"I've been off the booze since rehearsals started for the play in October because I had to make sure I was as strong as I could be for the play," she said.

"And I've just found out that my cousins from New York are flying over for the final show this Saturday and it will be wonderful to have all of my family there on the last night.

"So there will definitely be a party that night to celebrate," she added.

The Voice of Ireland co-presenter Eoghan McDermott (31) revealed he almost slipped up and had a drink at the start of the month.

"I almost caved in the first week because you can buy a pass, where you make a donation and then you can have a pint but I held strong," he admitted.

"So I haven't had a drink all month and I've been doing a fair bit of exercise, especially swimming and I've been having some juices as well so I feel great.

"I was worried that it would be a long stretch because I've never not had a drink for a few weeks but it's actually been grand," he added.
