They walked down the aisle last month - now Cork footballer Valerie Mulcahy and her partner Meg Blyth have revealed they would like children, although it may be some time before we hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet.
"We go back and forth about it but we do think we will," choreographer Meg said.
"That said, I don't think we're ready now. Val's got her football going on, I don't think I'd be ready for the lack of sleep, but it's in the plan," Meg told RSVP Magazine.
"I've always wanted to be a parent. I don't particularly have a desire to carry a child, but I just love kids," she added.
The couple were introduced by mutual friends six years ago.
It was a case of opposites attract as Meg was completely unfamiliar with the world of women's football.
thwarted
Valerie, who is considered one of the most successful female sports stars in the country, with an impressive nine All-Ireland successes to her name, made the decision to propose last year.
She had intended to pop the question on Myrtleville beach in Co Cork where the couple had their first date but a chatty passer-by thwarted her plans and she ended up getting down on one knee in a restaurant.
The couple tied the knot at Camden Fort Meagher in Crosshaven, Co Cork last month. Valerie wore an elegant blush pink gown while Meg went for a chic white suit jacket and black jeans.
