Grab a bargain on these special offer websites

AS the mother of all bargain websites is launched by nama.ie -- offering hotels and apartments at knockdown prices -- we're told they'll shortly be selling off the fine wines, jewellery and paintings formerly owned by defunct property developers.

We can't wait.

However, if all that is still outside your budget, there are plenty of 'trawler' websites encouraging you to surf for specials -- offering fantastic bargains and deals from small companies who exist in the real world but find it hard to get their message out by themselves.

And we love them. According to a survey by cashback website FatCheese.ie, 92pc of us shop online even while we're at work. Well, supposedly at work, that is!

While that site offers a cash return on purchases with certain stores, others offer a "deal of the day" arrangement.

Signing up means you have to put up with a couple of emails in your inbox every day, but the bargains make it worthwhile.

The catch is that you generally have to buy within 24 hours and pay upfront, with a limited number on sale, although you can often save the voucher to use later. Some sell out fast, so it's worth checking early in the day. Some of the quirky offerings we found include:

Grabone.ie has a skiing or snowboarding lesson for €20 (saving 59pc) and a variety of meals out at less than half price.

Pigsback.com has a fish pedicure for €9 (50pc discount) if you can bear the thought of fish nibbling your feet, and a microdermabrasion facial for €25 (61pc discount). Top and toe scrubbing in that one.

Citydeal.ie is part of the global Groupon chain. Recent offers include a food hamper for €44 instead of €131.69 and a car safety check down from €70 to €28.

If you get the munchies, CrackBird, the amazingly successful pop up restaurant operated by Jo-Burger's Joe Macken, offers a selection of free meals via "tweetseats" every day. Follow @CrackbirdDublin on Twitter, tweet your request for up to four people, your chosen time and date and you'll be contacted if you win the table.

If a takeaway is your thing, just-eat.ie is offering a 10pc discount for new customers this week off all meals.

Simply put in the code JENC8 at the checkout screen and click 'Add Voucher'. Don't forget the fried rice!
