The hottest resorts, airlines and cruise companies on the market

TRAVEL companies brought a night of glamour to town as the industry celebrated the best in the business and best destinations of the past year.

The big winner among the airlines were Etihad for long haul and business class, while Aer Lingus was voted best airline to Europe.

United Airlines scooped the prize for best airline to North America.

Italian line MSC was voted best three-four star cruise line, and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises won two categories – best luxury cruise and best river cruise operator. The Irish Travel Trade News Awards have been running for the past 22 years, and managing editor Ronan Flood said "they are determined by the professional travel agents of Ireland, north and south, and have always been a much sought after accolade".

The event was held in DoubleTree by Hilton, formerly The Burlington.

Topflight was voted best ski tour operator, while Sunway won two categories, as a long haul and sun holiday tour operator.

Favourite destinations included Spain, Dubai, Thailand and Lanzarote.
