French Toast (serves 1-2)

Ingredients: 1 egg €0.30, 200ml milk €0.20, salt, 3 slices of crusty bread €0.30, butter/oil. Total Cost: Approx: €0.80.

French Toast can be served sweet with maple syrup or a sprinkling of sugar and lemon or savoury with fried bacon or mushrooms.

Beat the egg and milk with a fork and add a pinch of salt. Cut crusty bread into slices and dip into the egg-milk mixture. Heat some butter and oil on a frying pan until sizzling and fry the slices until browned on both sides.

Cinnamon Toast

Ingredients: bread €0.20, butter, sugar, cinnamon, €0.10. Total Cost: Approx: €0.30

Put a walnut-sized lump of butter in a small pan with a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Heat and stir until mixed well and spread on hot toast.
