Celebrity chef Dylan McGrath has revealed that he has no interest in being friends with other chefs, because they are "disingenuous".

The Masterchef star, who runs some of Dublin's most successful restaurants, admitted that he "keeps his distance" from other chefs, saying that they're only interested in business.

"I'm not interested in having chefs as friends," he said.

"They're disingenuous.

"They're not really interested in how I am, they're just interested in talking about how busy they are.

"It's so f**king boring. I keep my distance; not in a bad way, but I just don't want to be in the gang.

"I have friends in lots of different professions who are much more interesting to me in terms of learning from them," he added.

Dylan also revealed that he was advised to turn his popular city centre restaurant Fade Street Social into an exclusive nightclub.

Speaking to the Sunday Business Post, Dylan said: "I've lost count of the number of people who told me that I should turn the rooftop in Fade Street into a private members club with a bloody velvet rope.

"Imagine if I had listened to them. The place would be full of w**kers in cravats with no money.

"Why would I want to do that? I'm not running nightclubs. I'm running restaurants, and they're restaurants for everybody."
