Let them eat cake says Mary

FOODIE WAG Mary Scott has swapped her career as a chef at upmarket restaurant Chapter One, to set up a business as a cake maker.

Mary (23) is off to a flying start, after being commissioned by a teammate of her Leinster rugby player boyfriend Devin Toner.

The ambitious Navan native is making her first cake for Kevin McLaughlin's girlfriend Lauren to celebrate her birthday.

And Mary is being inundated with requests from the rest of the Leinster players, who have been asking her to bake cakes for their own special occasions.

"I left Chapter One in early June, it was my own decision because I was just exhausted to be honest," she told the Diary.

"There was a lot of hours and it was hard work so I've decided to venture out on my own.

"I'm just in the process of getting my cake business off the ground. My first project was to make a surprise cake for Kevin's girlfriend's birthday this week.

"I've told all the lads I'll make them cakes if they want, all they have to do in return is to Tweet a picture of it and get the word out there for me," she added.

Mary also made a return to the small screen last month when she made an appearance on TV3's Celebrity Head Chef.

The chatty brunette moved in with her other half of nearly five years earlier this year and says the couple are happier than ever.

The loved-up pair recently returned from a two-week holiday to Mexico and Devin is now busy training with his Irish teammates ahead of the forthcoming Rugby World Cup.
