Celebs and the new baby boom

Dublin looks set for a baby boom. Everywhere we look pregnant women are in full bloom, radiantly awaiting their new arrivals. In celebrity land, hilarious Herald columnist and TV3 presenter Colette Fitzpatrick will give birth to her first child in November.

RTE star Laura Woods has also revealed she and her husband of one year, Mark Arigho, are expecting their first child. Laura has said: "Everyone is super excited. I'm an only child so it's very exciting for my family and, of course, Mark is thrilled. There are nine of our friends expecting babies at the moment, so there is definitely a baby boom."

Former Gerry Ryan Show contributor Evelyn O'Rourke, who has been battling breast cancer, is due a new baby in early January. While former Off The Rails presenter Pamela Flood has announced that she will give birth to her first child with restaurateur Ronan Ryan next spring.

In Hollywood, supermodel Miranda Kerr, wife of Pirates of the Caribbean actor Orlando Bloom, is due to give birth to her first child in February. The couple married in July.

Actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate recently confirmed she and Dutch fiance Martyn LeNoble will soon be parents. The former Samantha Who? star has yet to reveal a due date.

Actor John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston are expecting their third child at the end of the year. They have a 10-year-old daughter Ella Blue, yet lost their son Jett, aged just 16, in January 2009 when he died after having a seizure during a family holiday to the Bahamas.

Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has been filming E4 reality show Natalie Cassidy: Becoming Mum, which will be screened next year. The down-to-earth star is expecting her first baby any day now.

Pop star Lily Allen and painter and decorator boyfriend Sam Cooper will welcome their first baby next February. Allen recently spoke of her fears of miscarriage, and her delight at making it to being four months pregnant.

The stork will soon be landing in celebrity land and some of our well-known faces will welcome new additions into their lives.
