I wouldn't be a big fan of audiobooks, not in the realm of fiction or non-fiction, but the self-help genre is tailor-made for this mode of delivery: you listen along, do the exercises in the moment, and you've already gone some way towards knocking your issue on the head.

When we breathe shallowly, there's not enough oxygen being sent through the bloodstream, and not enough of both going to our brains. Once our cerebral function goes a little screwy, then the rest of the body follows. The fight-or-flight instinct kicks in, and everything goes pear-shaped; we lose perspective and our ability to cope. Lots of people turn to something like yoga in order to get their health back on track, and yoga is a great proponent of controlled breathing.

Here, we are taken through simple breathing exercises that benefit both mind and body, in the comfort of our own home: controlled breathing helps one with anxiety, high blood pressure, helps one to quiet the mind, and in general promote better physical and emotional health

Weil's voice is deep and gentle, he presents his thoughts in a straightforward manner, and the exercises are easy but extremely effective. I got so much out of all of them – and even as I write, I am consciously breathing. I've finished this piece much faster than I thought I would!
