Ticket to ride to fun event

EACH year, Dublin Bus works with the Flora Women's Mini Marathon team in the run up to the annual event in order to ensure the day is a success for all involved.

Planning for the event begins months beforehand and involves a number of agencies in Dublin city, including other public transport operators, Dublin City Council and An Garda Siochana.

The priority for Dublin Bus is to provide the best possible service for participants and customers wishing to travel into the city centre during the race.

Each year, diversions are put in place on two corridors in the Dublin Bus network -- the Rock Road and Stillorgan Dual Carriageway. These corridors service Dublin Bus routes from the south east of the city, such as routes 145 and 46a.

Before the race begins, signs are posted at all bus stops along the racing route informing customers of the alternative routing. Messages are also posted on the real-time passenger display units on street.

During the race, Dublin bus chief inspectors will work with An Garda Siochana as roads are reopened by them to gradually restore services to normal routing. Log on to www.dublinbus.ie and Dublin Bus's Twitter and Facebook pages (@dublinbusnews) for information.
