GRAMMY-winning soul singer Amy Winehouse reportedly died surrounded by empty vodka bottles in her room and with lethal amounts of alcohol in her blood -- more than five times the drink-driving limit.

A coroner's verdict of 'death by misadventure' came after it was found the singer suffered accidental alcohol poisoning when she resumed drinking after weeks of abstinence.

Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan has struggled with drink and drugs problems for what feels like forever, and is said to be getting her life back on track.

She has said: "I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances.

"I ran myself down and lost track of who I was."

Two years ago star Melanie Griffith revealed that beating her addiction to drink and drugs was like "getting out of prison".

The 54-year-old actress battled addiction for three decades, and said: "I am an alcoholic and an addict and all my life I have fought against this, and I've done it well."

I Kissed A Girl singer Katy Perry once revealed she drank to feel confident. "It was really difficult, drinking became a problem. It got out of control until I said, 'Okay -- back to work'."
