It's a winter favourite that creeps in and out of fashion, and this latest rush of popularity is, by all accounts, down to Dior, who made the blazer dress a firm favourite after their poster-girl Jennifer Lawrence wore it in an advert.

While a slew of other celebrities have rushed to wear it, Stella McCartney has also produced some gorgeous versions of the coat dress.

Not all the ladies, however, want to reveal too much with the trend, and Kate Moss has been spotted in a more demure, midi-length coat dress, as has Italian supermodel Elisa Sednaoui.

While it seems that many of the famous faces opting for this trend seem happy to abandon the golden rule of not showing legs and cleavage at the same time, we think it's not such a good idea.

In all aspects of life, maintaining a hint of mystery is advisable.

The Gabriel García Márquez observation invariably applies: "All human beings have three lives: public, private, and secret."

So keep some secrets in the wardrobe ladies.
