THE countdown has officially begun. With less than 11 weeks to go until the Flora Women's Mini Marathon, let us introduce you to Team Herald.
These three lucky (and brave!) readers are set to inspire and delight you over the coming weeks by documenting every sweaty moment of their training regime, right up until that starting line looms large in 11 weeks' time.
The winning ladies, who entered our fitness training competition during Week One of the Herald's mini marathon coverage, will now embark on an exercise programme to prepare for the big day.
DJ Ruth Scott of 2fm and fitness instructor Louise Heraghty will be on hand for motivational tips and advice along the way.
This year Team Herald includes Jennifer Reid (35), a new mum desperate to regain her pre-baby body and confidence before her holidays. She will be our slow jogger.
Also on board is Laura McKenna (24), our fast jogger who is building her fitness after losing eight stone in the last two years.
And our final participant is the walker – Marie Carolan, who will be taking part in her 20th Mini Marathon.
Since 1983, almost 780,000 women have entered the biggest all-female event of its kind in the world.
In 2013, it is estimated that almost €14m was raised by the participants, with a host of charities benefiting – it is the women themselves who decide who they will support with the sponsorship they receive.
