Gillian's new hairstyle a cut above rest

MODEL Gillian Quinn has debuted a dramatic new hairstyle, which is a far departure from her previous style.

The short pixie crop is a long way from her former bob-style with sweeping fringe.

The wife of former Ireland international Niall Quinn's new style is similar to the one sported by A-list actresses Anne Hathaway and Maggie Gyllenhaal and, while the mum-of-two has stayed brunette, her on-trend textured haircut is much shorter than her usual cut.

The 42-year-old made an appearance yesterday in Dublin in support of a sponsored walk and family fun day in aid of Paws Animal Rescue.

Speaking at the event held in Clondalkin's Corkagh Park, the animal-loving Dublin-native described the Kilkenny-based charity as "a very worthy cause".

"It has helped me out with rehoming dogs in the past and I think it's great to raise awareness that people can adopt dogs rather than buy," she said.

She was accompanied to the event by daughter Aisling (19), who brought along her boyfriend of over a year, Ashley Duane.

The Trinity College Pharmacy student, who is from Kildare, was on hand to help manage the pets Gillian brought along to the walk.

Gillian, who at one stage had 10 dogs, took three along to the fun day - including one that she had been fostering for Paws and which the shelter had just recently found a new home for in Sweden.

strain

Gina Hetherington, who founded the trust in 1997 with her mother Deirdre, said she was hopeful that the event would alleviate some of the financial strain the charity was currently experiencing with 104 dogs to home at present and a vet's bill of over €17,600.

"One of the big problems we have in the summer is that we in fact get busier because people book holidays and they forget about the dog," she said.

"And at the last minute they realise they haven't booked boarding kennels so the decision is made to rehome the dog instead."
