free aid

FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centres) is an independent organisation that gives free legal advice. They run evening advice centres around the country, usually on the premises of the Citizens Information Centre.

Visitors can talk to volunteer solicitors or barristers about their legal query. FLAC has also prepared a document for people facing mortgage arrears. It can be downloaded at www.flac.ie. FLAC is open to all and is not means-tested.

Those in lower income brackets may be entitled to Legal Aid. To qualify, you must satisfy the board's financial eligibility requirements and satisfy the board that your case has merit.

To find out if you are suitable, just log on to www.legalaidboard.ie
