Niamh Patten: On The Killers, watching DVDs, Freud and celibacy

Niamh Patten (43) is the creator of NP2 jewellery and proprietor of the new Tipperary Crystal store at The Village at Lyons, which exclusively stocks NP2 jewellery. Niamh is a graduate of the Gemmological Association and Gem Testing Laboratory in London, and launched NP2 in 2006.

When were you happiest? I'm happiest now, it's a very contented time in my life.

What is your greatest fear? My greatest fear is loss of liberty.

What is your earliest memory? Getting my tonsils out when I was three years old.

Which living person do you most admire and why? Bono. He does such amazing work, which he does not have to, and takes loads of stick for it.

What characteristic do you most dislike in yourself? Vanity.

What do you most dislike in others? Begrudgery.

What would your super power be? The gift of bilocation would be cool.

What makes you sad? Human suffering of any kind.

What is the part of your body you least like? My nose.

If you could bring anyone back from the dead, who would it be? Freud. I'd like him to lie on my couch and answer some of my questions.

What is your favourite smell? Freshly brewed coffee.

What is the greatest insult you've ever had directed at you? I've been accused of being lazy, which offended me a lot as I juggle being a single mom, full-time student and a jeweller.

Who or what is the love of your life? My children Addie (Adam) and Sophie (Sophia).

What is the biggest lie you've ever told? "No guard, I wasn't holding a mobile phone, it was my wallet."

What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Celibacy.

If there was a film made of your life, who would play you? Angelina Jolie, but chance would be a fine thing, so preferably someone Irish such as Maria Doyle Kennedy.

What talent would you most like to have? I'd love to be able to write.

What is your guiltiest pleasure? Lying in bed watching a DVD, my phone off.

What characteristics have you inherited from your parents? I'm charitable because of my parents.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party? Larry Mullen, Bono, Jonathan Rhys Myers, The Killers, Obama, Clinton and Damien Hirst.

When did you last cry? A couple of days ago over a disappointment for my children.

How often do you exercise? I do yoga once a week. I'm blessed with not having to worry too much about my weight or my figure.

What keeps you awake at night? My boyfriend, Declan.

What has been your greatest disappointment? The end of a wonderful relationship.
