Model rugby loves

Former Miss Ireland Aoife Cogan is in beautiful, glamorous and sexy company following the revelation that she is dating one of our rugby heroes, and we're not only complimenting her new hunky and devoted boyfriend, Ireland and Leinster star Gordon D'Arcy.

Dublin-based top model Aoife joins the company of some of our most stunning and accomplished beauties by becoming the girlfriend of swashbuckling rugby hero Gordon. The couple met more than a month ago through mutual friends, and the model and sportsman have been dating for the past few weeks and are said to be 'getting on like a house on fire'.

They are a picture-perfect couple, but it is Aoife's career as a top model which makes her a perfect match for the other accomplished wives and girlfriends of our top rugby players. Her success, ambition and hard work have made her one of the most recognised faces in our beauty industry today.

Amy Huberman, fiancee of Ireland rugby captain Brian O'Driscoll, has had an impressive career by any standards: a talented actress, bestselling author and charity fundraiser, the Southside beauty is currently organising the couple's summer wedding, which is set to be one of the biggest and most photographed social events of the year.

There is no doubt that Amy, who went to school in Loreto, Foxrock, and has a degree in social science from UCD as well as an MA in media studies from DIT, will

be on hand to help Aoife learn the ropes of being a rugby consort.

Amy has written about friendship in her successful chick-lit book, Hello Heartbreak, and is known for her friendly and no-nonsense approach to life and socialising.

But as stunning Aoife (26) will find out, there is nothing new about our rugby wives and girlfriends having to find a fine balance between their busy career schedules and their romantic lives.

Jessica O'Gara, the beautiful wife of Munster and Ireland rugby player Ronan, has led the way in carving out her own identity in the sometimes overwhelming apres-rugby world.

The mum of young twins is a primary school teacher and the long-time sweetheart of Ronan. The couple tied the knot in 2006.

And another glamorous beauty that Aoife should have a lot in common with is the

successful model Ruth Griffin, who is married to Munster and Ireland player Alan Quinlan.

Tipperary-born Ruth, who has a degree in marketing, married Alan in 2008 and they have a baby son named AJ. Ruth has said of meeting Alan: "I was working at an event that he was attending and while we saw each other, we didn't say a word to each other. Alan knew that my sister was married to a fellow rugby player so he made the call and then my sister Steph played Cupid for me and engineered an introduction for Alan and I!"

Leinster and Ireland player Rob Kearney also has a beauty by his side, another accomplished stunner for Aoife to become friends with at away matches.

Rob is dating the English model and actress Susie Amy who is most famous for her role as Chardonnay Lane-Pascoe in the first two seasons of Footballers' Wives.

They are gorgeous and they are talented, but we suspect that when these girls get together, they are not only talking about their love of rugby, but are exchanging advice on how they manager their own sterling careers and lives.
