I have just encountered the stupidest gadget ever.
AND YOU’VE COME ACROSS A FEW.
I’m sure I have; however, they have been eclipsed entirely by this ridiculous thing.
DON’T KEEP US IN SUSPENSE!
It’s a USB 2.0 Mobile Phone Charger Holder.
I received it as a Christmas pressie from a well-known mobile phone provider who shall remain nameless.
I gave it a cursory look before hopping on a plane for the US for the holidays, and only liberated it from its box in the last week.
I thought it looked promising. The thing is, there I am, charging my phone via the USB cable, either connected to my computer or to the plug in the wall, and the phone rings.
The cord is never long enough. So I either unplug, which has inadvertently ended conversations in the past, or I have to hunch over the phone like Quasimodo.
I reckoned that this, which is like a huge magnet upon which the phone rests while charging, would mitigate that.
The plinth itself is not the charger. It is not infused with energy, as I foolishly imagined it would be. Meaning, that you would plug in the holder via the USB and then put the phone on and it would charge.
Madder things happen every day.
NO JOY, I PRESUME.
None. You have to plug the USB into the computer, then into an adapter, and then into the plug that adapts it for the iPhone.
It has gone straight into the bin. The USB Mobile phone charger holder is available online at AliExpress, starting from $3 [€2.10] plus shipping and handling
